The Cres-Losinj archipelago
The Cres-Losinj archipelago is the biggest one (not the
most numerous, however) in the Adriatic comprising 36 islands,
islets and reefs.
Until recently, the Island of Krk was refered to as the biggest
Croatian island, with Cres being the second one in size. Their
size is now the same, being 405,78 square km. As the sea-level
raises about 1 mm each year, the surface of both islands decreases.
The process is much less pronounced in case of Cres, as its shore is much
steeper.
